Welcome to a winter excursion where we will experience snowy landscapes and the rich culture of Kainuu. At the reindeer farm, we’ll observe reindeer feeding, take a ride through a snowy forest on a reindeer-pulled sleigh, and practice throwing a suopunki—a traditional lasso used to catch reindeer and a valuable tool for herders.

- To reach the ice hole, guests should walk through the hotel corridor, via the "middle door"—not through the back door of the changing rooms. There will be signs on-site.
- We recommend bringing swim shoes, as the path to the ice hole is occasionally sanded.
- For safety reasons, we advise guests not to use the ice hole alone.
-Snow removal for the path to the ice hole is done daily around 8 AM.
The stunning Aateli Royal apartments are located right next to the slopes of Vuokatti. The new Ski-in / Ski-out apartments allow access to the slope directly from the yard. You can choose to stay in either a magnificent two-bedroom apartment, offering a spacious 71 m², or in a cozy 46 m² apartment with one bedroom and a practical bunk bed alcove. All apartments include, among other things, a private sauna, a washing machine, and a drying cabinet.
The 190 km Vuokatti xc skiing trail network is also a few steps away. In summer, Vuokatinvaara’s wonderful hiking and cycling terrains open right from the door.

Fun day at the frozen lake! Start at our Safari Center where warm safari outfits will be put on. Then a short walk through the forest to the frozen lake where our experienced fishing guide will lead you to his best fishing spots. You start by drilling a hole in the ice – this is already a fun experience – and after that you can start fishing.
The fish native to this area are perch, pike and pike perch – hopefully you catch some! You will change your fishing spot several times during this excursion. Hot drinks included. Perfect for families and groups!

Did you know that Finland has very wide mythology? In the old times people used to believe in spirits of the forest, goblins and other creatures.
Hiidenportti means ”goblin’s gate” and there are some interesting mythical stories related to the park. On this 6 hour hike we will see the Hiidenportti gorge, old forests and a spot that once had a wilderness farm on it.
The hike will be 5 kilometers and halway we will stop to cook some snacks on the fire. The trail has a lot of rocks and roots so wearing hiking boots is recommended. The tour is suitable for children too.

The landscape of Sotkamo and Vuokatti is mainly formed by the chain of 13 hills. Admire the far-reaching landscapes of blue lakes, thick green forests, and hills. Vuokatti Sport’s popular family-friendly gymnastics hall is located in the Pallohalli building. The gymnastics hall provides perfect setting for both family workout sessions and fun-filled birthday parties for kids!
The gymnastics hall is equipped with: a floor area (12m x 12m), a trampoline + foam pit, an Air Track + foam pit, rings, a balance beam, parallel bars, uneven bars, a high bar, and slacklines.
The hall can be reserved for private use at the following rates:
Mon-Fri from 8 AM to 3 PM – €25/hour
Other times – €38/hour
Note! During high season (weeks 42, 43, 52, 1, 8, 9, 10, and the Easter period), the price is €38/hour.
Reservations can be made by calling the reception or sales office. During holiday periods, we recommend booking well in advance to secure your preferred time for fun and exercise!
Please note when arriving for a self-guided session: Payment must be made at Vuokatti Sport Hotel reception (Opistontie 4) before the session begins. You will also receive the key upon payment. Before starting, you must sign a user agreement, which includes a commitment to follow the gymnastics hall rules and train at your own risk.
The gymnastics hall is located in a separate Pallohalli building next to the outdoor field, approximately a 100-meter walk from the reception.
Vuokatinrinteet is both: a popular family resort and professional’s home arena. Although Vuokatti has a long history, it’s also nowadays lively and modern ski resort, which is developing all the time.
During winter Vuokatti is snow-sure and it’s surrounded by picturesque landscapes. Our slope supply is versatile and it’s easy to move between the slopes. There are 14 slopes and 9 lifts in Vuokatti Ski Resort. We have slopes and performance locations for everyone from beginners to professionals. Our Snowpark offers different levels of jumps, rails and presses, which means that there’s activities for entire family.
Near the slopes there are many different restaurants and cafes, where you can enjoy your after ski or maybe have some snacks or lunch during your day.
Max’s Snow World, Hupikukkula and Children’s House Hupila vouch that family with children thrives on slopes, even through all day. With button lift and carpet lifts it’s easy and safe to start getting acquainted with skiing in children’s areas.
On the Northern slopes we have toboggan slide and snowtubing hill, where everyone thrives.
Vuokatti’s Ski School's courses can be enjoyed by entire family in the private or group classes. We offer instruction and coaching for alpine skiing, telemark’ing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing and adaptive skiing.
Restaurant Ainoa is located at Hotel Aateli. The restaurant creates variations of different combinations of international and traditional Kainuu cuisine. Ingredients are chosen carefully. You can taste pure forest berries, wild mushrooms as well as wild herbs on your plate. We use local producers, fishermen and farmers. The heart of the kitchen is our roots, all the flavours of Kainuu old style kitchen.
The beautiful interior and warm atmosphere invite you in to enjoy a glass of wine or a taste of the local moonshine.

Vuokatti Bowling has 3D -simulation systems for shooting sports, hunting and for fun. The simulator shooting is suitable for everyone. There are two rifle- and pistol replicas in use.

Rugged rocky gorges in the wild backwoods!
The canyons of Hiidenportti are an impressive sight. Along the path leading to the main gorge you can experience shady spruce forest, a flowery meadow and woodland that used to be cleared periodically by slash-and-burn farmers. The park has many fascinating places and stories for anyone interested in cultural history to discover.

Herttuatar is a comfortable and functional holiday apartment where log walls, ceiling beams, and the heat-storing soapstone fireplace create a cosy atmosphere. The sauna boasts fibre optic lighting and the option of listening to music. Herttuatar, remodeled in the summer of 2021, is an 81 m² holiday house for 6 persons with three bedrooms, living room, kitchen, sauna, bathroom, two half baths, glassed-in balcony and porch, and a storage room. The high-quality facilities feature a whirlpool, air-cooling system and a separate ski maintenance room with forced ventilation.
Vuokatin Aateli's Prinsessa studio accommodates two persons comfortably. It is located downstairs of the Herttuatar apartment, near the fountain. The size of the apartment is 21 m². It has a combined living room and bedroom, a high standard bar kitchen, electric sauna with cable lighting and sculpted benches, and a glazed-in terrace. The similar Prinssi suite is situated next door.

The Aateli Castle apartments are set in a prime location on the slopes of Vuokatti, in the midst of versatile, year-round activities and services. Erik of Aateli Castle is an apartment of 79 square metres and accommodation for 6 persons. Erik has 3 bedrooms, of which one is a third-floor romantic tower bedroom with a double bed. The apartment has a kitchen, living room, sauna, two toilets, a glazed-in terrace and a balcony, as well as a drying / utility / storage room. One of four similar apartments in the Aateli Castle.

Vuokatin Aateli offers you something unique in all of Finland, the Aateli Island, a paradise island in the middle of a beautiful lake with breathtaking views of the scenery in Vuokatti. Vuokatin Aateli’s own vessel takes you safely to the island or onto the waves of Lake Nuasjärvi to relax. The Margareeta apartment accommodates 6 persons within its 71 square meters. The Amiraali house is located right by the ski slopes. You can ski to the slopes right off the garden. The garden is abutted on a beautiful, rocky forest. A large anchor in the garden is the landmark of the house. Amiraali has four high-class, atmospheric apartments for 2–6 persons each. The size of the end apartments Amiraali I and Amiraali IV is 54 m² each, and the size of the middle apartments Amiraali II and III is 61 m² each. Each apartment has two separate bedrooms, a kitchen-living room, two toilets and a sauna. There are also two bed cubes upstairs that can be used as a bed for two.

The cottages vary in size and type. We have sauna cottages, cottages with a fireplace, lake view cottages and even a private house for a bigger group. All of the cottages have a small kitchenette, TV and en suite bathroom.
Sauna cottages can accommodate up to 6-8 persons and cottages with fireplace or lake view up to 2-4 persons.
A group of up to 8 persons can stay in our private house. It has a home like kitchen where you can enjoy a self made meals or even hold private meetings. The house has also en suite bathroom with sauna and a living room with an access to your own terrace.

Vuokatti Sport Chalets offer well equipped accommodation in a breathtaking setting, right next to Vuokatti Sport’s extensive sports facilities and outdoor trails. These apartments are ideal for active travelers, athletes and families who appreciate both comfort and practicality.
Each apartment features a fully equipped kitchen, a cozy living area, a private sauna, and a balcony or terrace with beautiful views of Vuokatti’s natural landscape. There are two apartment sizes available:
2-4 person holiday apartment, 45-54 m²:
Two-person bedroom, kitchen/living room, its own sauna, drying closet, balcony. In the alcove, there is a bed that 120 cm wide and above it a bed that is 80 cm wide.
4-6 person holiday apartment, 61-65 m²:
Two bedrooms with two separate beds in each one, a combined kitchen/living room, where there is a sofabed (possibility of additional beds for two people). Its own sauna and a balcony.

SPORT RESORT ROOM
Our main building features 34 Sport Resort hotel rooms located by the shore of Lake Särkinen. The Sport Resort rooms offer separate beds for two or three people, along with a refrigerator, drying cabinet, kettle, TV, shower/WC, and hairdryer. The rooms are non-smoking and allergy-friendly (pets are not allowed). Additionally, the rooms are equipped with wireless internet access.
SPORT RESORT ROOM – STANDARD
The hotel rooms have separate beds for two, a fridge, a television, a shower/WC, a hairdryer and a drying closet for outdoor clothes. The size of the rooms is 20 m². The location is on the shore of Lake Särkinen, in the immediate vicinity of the main building.
The room rate for both room types includes a hotel breakfast, access to the hotel saunas and ice swimming (available during winter), as well as use of the hotel gym.
The 380-seat restaurant O’las offers the most extensive buffet in the Vuokatti area every day. In line with the demands of top athletes, we keep our selection varied and delicious every day. The core offerings of O’las include a buffet-style breakfast, lunch, and dinner served daily. For lunch, there is also a lighter soup lunch option available. In the summer, the restaurant features a terrace with stunning views of Lake Särkinen.
Well-Equipped Apartments built in 2020 cater perfectly to both travelers and athletes in the Vuokatti area. Located in a fantastic and central spot near the shores of Lake Särkinen, some apartments offer stunning lake views. In winter, ski trails start right outside the door, and in summer, hiking and running trails are easily accessible from the yard.
Vuokatti Sport’s extensive facilities—including the O’las restaurant, café, swimming hall, indoor and outdoor sports venues, and Vuokatti Arena—are available year-round, just a short walk from the apartments.
