By local bus
The local bus in Sotkamo municipality, called SotKatti, operates in the Sotkamo-Vuokatti area. You can pay with debit/credit card, mobile ticket (Waltti Mobile), or cash.
Ticket prices:
- Single ticket 2,00 €. Payable to the bus driver. The ticket is valid for one hour from the time of purchase.
- Mobile ticket 1,50 €. The mobile app sells single tickets for both adults and children. The mobile ticket is a convenient option when you don’t have a travel card or cash. The mobile ticket is valid for one hour from the time of purchase. When paying with a mobile ticket in the Sotkamo area, select Kajaani as the area and F-Sotkamo as the zone. Download the Android app from Google Play (Waltti Mobile) or the iOS app from the Apple App Store (Waltti Mobile).
- Children under 7 travel for free.
- Strollers and prams travel for free, with one accompanying adult and child in the stroller or pram.
- Transporting a bicycle on the bus costs 2,00 €.
By bicycle
In Vuokatti, cycling between places is possible year-round, as there are plenty of paved and cleared cycle paths. It’s also easy to visit the Sotkamo village, approximately 7 km one way. If you don’t have your own bike, Vuokatti Ski Service offers bikes for the whole family, with or without electric assistance.
Break Sokos Hotel Vuokatti, Hotel Aateli Hillside, and Hotel Aateli Lakeside are accredited with the Welcome Cyclist label, meaning they offer services like secure bike storage. Haapala Brewery Restaurant also holds the Welcome Cyclist label.
By car
It is easy to get around Vuokatti by car. Parking is free in Vuokatti and Sotkamo village, except for long-term parking at Holiday Club Katinkulta. Please note that some parking spaces require a parking disc, limiting the duration of parking.
By taxi
There are several taxi companies operating in the Vuokatti-Sotkamo area, offering 24-hour service. Please note that on weekday mornings and afternoons, some taxis are occupied with school transport, so getting a taxi may take a little longer than usual.
