On the Taste of Kainuu Food Tour you enjoy locally produced food in the restaurants of Vuokatti and the surrounding area. During the bus ride, the guide shares stories about Kainuu’s food culture, Sotkamo and Vuokatti, and the tour also explores the footsteps of the author Veikko Huovinen.
The tour kicks off with tar-flavoured welcome refreshments and appetisers in Heikkilän Pirtti at Ohravaara. The main course is served in Haapala Brewery Restaurant and includes local beer tasting. After that, the tour continues to Hiukanharju, which is located in the city centre of Sotkamo. The tour ends with delicious dessert and coffee served in the atmospheric Restaurant Kippo.
The Food Tour is available for booking all year round. The Tour takes off either the centre of Vuokatti or Sotkamo, depending on the group's wishes.
